Low Earth orbit at roughly 550km, against the 35,786km of traditional geostationary satellite internet. That single fact is the whole engineering argument: latency falls from something like 600ms to something like 25-60ms, which is the difference between satellite internet being unusable for a video call and being fine for one.
The cost is that a low orbit covers a small patch of ground and moves fast, so continuous service needs a very large number of satellites and a phased-array antenna that tracks them electronically rather than mechanically. That antenna is the interesting part, and a fair amount of it is made here.
